Kindness #5

For my fifth act of kindness, I was helping my mother when she was sick to serve the dinner table for our family. I was also cleaning the dishes after the meal. The reason why I choose this act of kindness because my mom was sick and she looked like she needed my help. It made me feel good to help my mother when she needed me. It seemed like my mom was really happy that I helped her.

Kindness #4

For my fourth act of kindness, my brother injured his leg so I went to get him some ice. I choose this act of kindness because my brother would have done the same thing if I were injured. It made me feel good to help him. He also felt good that I was helping him when he is injured.

Morris Micklewhite and The Tangerine Dress

Morris Micklewhite and The Tangerine Dress is a great children’s book written by Christine Baldacchino and illustrated by Isabelle Malenfant. The theme of the book is to stand up for yourself. Morris loves to dress up in his tangerine dress. The tangerine dress reminds him of tigers, the Sun and his mom’s hair. People at his school bully him because he is a boy and he wears a dress. Some kids won’t let him in there spaceship and other kids don’t want to sit with him at snack time. The next day he felt sick and didn’t want to go to school. So he stayed home. He had a dream of him going on a space adventure with his cat. Morris paints a great picture oh what happened in his dream. The other kids didn’t let him come in there spaceship so he built his own and put the picture of the tangerine dress. They asked if there are elephants and tigers in space. Morris said if you follow me we might be able to find out. They explored a planet and had a lot of fun. They decided that it didn’t matter if boys wore dresses or not.

In conclusion, Morris Mickclewhite and the tangerine dress teaches you to accept other peoples differences.

Kindness #3

For my third act of kindness, I woke up in the morning and made my mom coffee. I choose this act of kindness because my mom does a lot of things for me and I wanted to do something for her. It made me feel good because my mom was very happy that I made coffee for her. I think it made her feel good that I made her coffee.

Kindess #2

For my second act of kindness, I was up at Whistler and I held the door open for a skier. The skier had his hands full so he couldn’t open the door. So I came right beside him and opened the door for him. He said thanks and walked through the door. I choose this act of kindness because I always feel good when someone holds the door open for me. I think the skier felt good because if I didn’t hold the door open he would have to put his skies and poles down to open the door.

Kindness #1

My first act of kindness is giving Emre a pencil. He asked me if he can borrow my pencil just for science class. I told him that I had a lot of pencils so he can keep it. He said thanks. The reason why I choose this is to help my friend because he probably would have done the same thing if I was didn’t have a pencil. It made me feel good giving something to someone who needed it. I think Emre felt happy that he had a pencil.

One

“One” is a great children’s book written and illustrated by Kathryn Otoshi. The theme of the book is friendship. At they were all friends. The main character is a blue he wants to be all the other colours. Red is the bully. Red says that he is hot and blue is not. Nobody stands up for blue. Red started bullying everyone. It made him feel bigger than everyone else. One came and made them all laugh. Red told them to stop laughing. So they stopped. One stood up to red. Red went away. One taught them how to turn into numbers. They all turned into numbers and stood up to Red. Red rolled away. Blue said how about we say “Red is hot and Blue is cool”. Red rocked and rolled and turned into seven. Red laughed and he joined the fun. Sometimes it just takes One.

I think the message is to stand up for your self and others. In the end, they stood up to Red. Red stopped bullying them and they became friends. I think that this book is really good and it has a great message.

Ivan: The Remarkable True Story Of The Shopping Mall Gorilla

“Ivan: The Remarkable True Story Of The Shopping Mall Gorilla” is a great children’s book written by Katherine Applegate and illustrated by Brian Karas. Ivan got captured by humans when he was six months old. He and another gorilla baby were captured. They got transported to a mall in Tacoma. They were dressed and named. One day Burma died leaving Ivan alone. Ivan started to live in a house, but he the more he ate the more he grew. The more he grew the less he could live in a human house. The cage in the mall was his new home and he grew into a silverback gorilla. People got mad that Ivan was that Ivan lived a lonely life in a cage. So they transferred him to a gorilla sanctuary. Ivan loved his new home. He enjoyed being around other gorillas.

The theme of the book is animal rights. The message of the story is that animals should be left where they live.

Overall I think that this is a great children’s book and has a really good message.

Nerdy Birdy Tweets

“Nerdy Birdy Tweets” is a wonderful children’s book written by Aaron Reynolds and pictures by Matt Davies. Nerdy Birdy and Vulture don’t like the same things but they are best friends. They like making fun of each other, making silly faces and taking goofy pictures of each other. One day Nerdy Birdy found a new game called tweetster. Nerdy Birdy had lots of new friends on tweetster. Vulture wasn’t happy that Nerdy Birdy was just looking at his screen. Nerdy Birdy didn’t even notice that Vulture left. The next day Vulture joined Tweetster too. At lunchtime they the same things as usual. Vulture saw the tweet that Nerdy Birdy posted. Vulture asked Nerdy Birdy why did he post that. Nerdy Birdy thought it was funny. Vulture was mad at Nerdy Birdy so he flew away. Nerdy Birdy waited at their favourite telephone wire. A week later Vulture never showed up. He tweeted my best friend is mad at me. What do I do? He waited and finally, three people replied. The tweets back to him weren’t helpful at all. Nerdy Birdy flew high and low. He flew across town and over fields. Until he finally found Vulture. Nerdy Birdy said that he was sorry. Vulture said that they were friends again. Nerdy Birdy said that Vulture is worth one thousand tweester friends. They became friends again.
The meaning is that real friends are more important than random friends on the internet. This book is great for any age.

What To Do With An Idea

“What To You Do With An Idea” is a great children book written by Kobi Yamada and illustrated by Mae Besom. A kid had an idea. He didn’t know what to do with it. At first, he didn’t care about it. The idea followed him. So he kept it away from people. He thought that people would make fun of it. The idea wanted food and attention. The idea started to grow bigger.  He showed it to people, but they thought it was silly and it will never be used. At first, he thought to give up on the idea. Then he realized that that was their thoughts. He liked his idea. He built a house with an open roof so his idea could look at the stars. The boy liked his idea. They became really good friends. One day his idea changed right in front of him. He didn’t know how to describe it. He realized having an idea could change the world. The moral of the story is to welcome your ideas to the world. I think that “What to Do With An Idea” is a really good children’s book with a great message for everyone. In conclusion, I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
